Questions & Answers
My Top Hat's have grown well. I have them a flower bed & one is about 28" tall, while the other is only about 20". They have bloomed a couple times & I expect to see eatable berries this coming year. Hope this helps, we are in central texas about 2 1/2 hr.
I purchased 4 Top Hat blueberry plants 2 years ago and planted them in a raised bed. They produced quite a few berries last season and are looking fantastic this season. The berries are delicious. Good luck with your plants.
Yes you can grow blueberries in a green house but they will still need the minimum chill hours required in order to bear fruit.
We appreciate you reaching out to us. You can find the years-to-bear information in the Characteristics section, near the top of the page, underneath the description. This plant takes 2-3 years to bear. The age and size information for our blueberries is as follows: 4” pot: 6-12 months old and 4” tall;

Yes they grow in pots and it is easier to control the Ph.
We planted ours in a 20 inch diameter x 18 inch tall pot. Don't expect any fruit the first year. The main goal is for it to put on lots of branches and leaves.
Use the Stark Bros fertilizer and acidifier as directed (a 20 inch pot is almost 1/4 of a square yard or up to 2 ounces of sulfur). It helps to start with potting mix that is already at the right ph. I check the ph every week (I keep a spreadsheet) and I add 1 tablespoon of sulfur if the ph is above 5.5 and I skip it when it gets below 5.
In the winter, I put the pots on our patio against the house, surround them with seat cushions from our patio furniture and cover them with blankets when the temp gets below 20F. They don't need much water, but don't let them dry out.
The second year you'll get flowers and berries, but not a lot because you only have 1 years growth. Some say pick the flowers off, but I let mine ripen. So far, our birds haven't learned they are good to eat.
Hello Tim, The 4" pot ships out at 4-6" tall
We appreciate you reaching out to us. Blueberries are self pollinating and do not require another variety to bear fruit. However planting a second variety of any kind will increase your crop yield.
