Description

Anne Yellow Raspberry is the raspberry that surprises people — golden-colored, exceptionally sweet, with a distinctive hint of apricot flavor that makes it genuinely unlike any red raspberry you’ve grown. Large, firm, and beautifully colored, Anne is an everbearing primocane variety that delivers two crops per season — one in July and August on second-year floricanes, and a second from September through frost on first-year primocanes. Cold hardy and heat tolerant across Zones 4–9, self-pollinating, and bearing in its first year, it’s one of the most rewarding and distinctive raspberry varieties available.

Golden Color, Apricot Flavor — Unlike Any Other Raspberry

Anne’s flavor is its calling card. The large, golden-yellow berries have a mild, intensely sweet flavor with a distinctive apricot-like quality that sets them apart from any red variety. That unique flavor profile makes them exceptional for fresh eating where the novelty and sweetness are front and center, and equally outstanding for jams, tarts, baking, and freezing where the flavor carries through beautifully.

Two Crops Per Season

Anne’s everbearing nature gives it a production structure that stretches from midsummer through fall. Second-year floricanes produce the first crop in July and August, while first-year primocanes deliver a second harvest from September through frost. That extended window means fresh golden raspberries from the height of summer well into the cooler fall months — a genuinely impressive production span for a single planting.

Important Planting Notes

After planting bare-root canes, prune them back to about 2 inches above the ground. This is a critical step that encourages the roots to send up strong new growth — don’t skip it. New growth will emerge from the ground nearby rather than from the original cane, which is normal raspberry behavior as the root system sends up new shoots.

Note: Do not plant red, gold, or purple raspberries within 75–100 feet of black raspberries, as black raspberries can be more susceptible to viral diseases spread by aphids moving between nearby plants.
