One of the best cider apples and high in vitamin C. Antique variety, originates from France, circa 16th century. Cold-hardy. Ripens in late October. Pollinator required: Choose another apple variety. Well it depends. It depends how many apple trees are already planted, it depends on the soil, the and the conditions (climate, geographic location). But for our orchard of 200 going to 400 semi-dwarf and standard grown on 4 acres the 5 Calville Blanc have grown very well when surrounded by a large variety of apple cultivars. We do biological treatments and heavily mulch. No pests and no trunk diseases so far-- 3 years for these 5. One tree produced 4 apples already and they were perfect. Expect others to bear in a couple MORE years however.
