Why did you choose this?
Stark Bro's Store
I had this apple at my home growing up, the flavor and texture of this cooking apple is better, far better than any in store apple you can buy to make apple sauce, pies or other uses. The reason you don't find them in stores is because they do not store or ship well, when they produce you must use them up quickly but the result is the best tasting cooking apple you can find, I highly recommend this apple.

Already blooming!
I just put this standard size tree in the ground a few weeks ago. It developed buds almost immediately, but to my surprise, has bloomed as well! Where this tree is located in the yard, I can tell it will be focal point and a source of enjoyment for years to come. Amazed at the growth already!

Red Astrachan (standard)
The tree arrived in good condition and is thriving after a year. This is an old fashioned apple that I grew up with, and I don't see it often. The picture doesn't look like the ones I am familiar with - they are totally (bright) red, with white flesh, sometimes streaked with red.

Requires several pickings
Like most early apples, it doesn't ripen all at once, and when picked at peak, it doesn't keep well. That said, it is IMO, better than many of the "new" early season/summer apples. My advice is to thin the baby apples after the June drop, otherwise your apples will be small. Learn to pick them at the right time with the old reliable taste test.............a sour apple was picked too early.
