This tree grew well all summer but failed to live through the winter. Was very pleased that Stark stood behind their guarantee and replaced the tree this spring. Because it was replaced i rated it a 5

Spigold apple
It is coming along, but this is only its 2nd year, so too early to tell. I impale a bar of Irish Spring soap on a rod to keep deer away.

Planted this tree in a tough spot, with a neighbors very invasive hedge always encroaching. Have read that Spigold is very vigorous unruly even. This may prove true. But so far it has proven to be just what I needed where it is. 3rd year with no fruit but spurs are forming so perhaps next year. Very healthy goodlooking tree compared with 25+ other apple varieties.
