Size & Spacing

Mature Size

When your tree matures, it will be approximately 7 - 8' tall x 2 - 3' wide.

Recommended Spacing

We recommend spacing these trees 2 - 3' apart to ensure room for growth.

Recommended Pollinators

This variety is self pollinating.

In many cases, you may still want to plant pollinating partners to increase the size of your crops, but with self-pollinating varieties doing so is optional. You'll get fruit with only one plant!

Maypole Flowering Crabapple
I love my little tree I gave it as a gift to my daughter for her new house. It survived our New England winter and looks great I like the fact that it appears to be a slower growing type and the colors of the flowers are beautiful i am sure that in a couple of years it will be a great addition to her landscape. These columnar Stark trees are great for small yadrs and they just keep on improving them

No complaints, great tree
I live in Minnesota, so very cold winters. I ordered the tree and planted one year ago in spring of 2016. It took immediately and did very well, even through a cold winter. It is now flowering already and looking lovely. I look forward to watching it grow. Thanks for a great tree. As advertised

Love it
A great solution for those of us with tiny yards. I bought three and am looking forward to seeing how they develop in the years to come. i love the spire shape and it doesn't take much to prune off the suckers.

So far, so good, this tree is short, but this is only it's second year in my yard. It flowered out and looked great this spring (2017), and I'm hoping it may give some fruit this year. I mainly got it to pollinate another apple tree, a pink lady, and it seems like it worked because we got apples from that tree last year. Hopefully we'll get fruit from both trees this year. I'll try to write an update in a couple years.

Beautiful & delicious
Our Maypole flowering crabapple tree is old enough to bear fruit now. The fruit is very easy to pick, & I made a lovely light red crabapple jelly from the fruit, that was as delicious as it was beautiful. When the flowers are in bloom in the spring, everyone in the neighborhood stops to tell me how pretty it is.

1st time tree planter
I bought these trees because there is a long standing family tradition of making crabapple jelly and I wanted to carry that on. Due to my limited yard space I had a friend suggest these beautiful trees. I bought two, just in case, as I was a first time tree planter.

When planting them I mixed the soil with organic compost, gave them support via adjacent stakes, and protection via a large piece of PVC pipe. I managed all of this despite planting them in the dark on leap day 2016. (There's gotta be some kind of good juju there).

The trees did very well over the winter. I did protect the bottom of the tree and the roots with "leaf skirts". This spring they've come back to life and flowered beautifully and much to my surprise, I have crabapples.

These trees are a great buy, low maintenance, and did well for me, a first time tree planter. I would highly recommend these trees! Thank you Stark Bros!

I love this tree
Originally noticed this tree probably 10 or more years ago in a starks catalog and did not buy it. I bought all the other columnar trees but not the maypole. I then spent the next 8 years trying unsuccessfully to find it. Finally starks notified me they had it and I immediately bought two. Got them a year ago and planted them. this year they were just beautiful and covered with dark pink blossoms. There are lots of tiny crabapples on them. Can't wait for their third year.

Although half the size of my Rocket Peach, it has fruit the second year! Terrific! I would buy more if available!
