Questions & Answers
Sure, those varieties would cross-pollinate one another – a great pairing, especially if you like Galas and Jonathans!
Apples bloom on second year wood that has not been shaded. Sometimes the balance of nutriants in the soil are too lean...look at the color of the leaves. They should not be yellow.
Thank you for your question! You will need a different variety to pollinate your Gala tree. Two varieties of the same apple will not cross-pollinate. There are several recommended pollinators on the product page that will do a fine job of pollinating your Gala tree.
Thank you for your question. Weather and soil conditions have much to do with the right time to harvest; even those vary from year to year. Galas usually ripen in late-August/early September.
Apples tell you they’re ripe by losing the last traces of their green background color and developing full, bright color. Most important, they become less tangy-tart and sweeter in taste. You’ll also notice the seeds turn from white to brown. When picking, just lift them upward quickly. If they’re ready, they will come loose without damage to the tree.
We recommend Granny Smith to pollinate Stark® Super Red Fuji, but Gala will pollinate it as well. Please contact Customer Support at 800.325.4180 if you would like more information; we would be happy to discuss other pollination options and help you find the right tree.
We have this listed on the website under the help option at the top left of the website and on each product page. Please let us knwo if you need any assistance.

I have never had to spray my trees. The only problem I had were the pesky squirrels helping themselves to the apples.
