Growing Your Tangy Green™ Fruit Snacks™ Columnar Apple Tree

These columnar apples take up minimal space, growing 10-14 feet tall with wider branches. Plant them 2-3 feet apart for optimal growth. They’re disease-resistant and cold-hardy, making care a breeze.

Blooming in mid-season, these trees help pollinate each other. For a bountiful harvest, plant two different varieties nearby. Tangy Green™'s resilience against rust and apple scab reduces the need for harsh chemicals, aligning with the Fruit Snacks™ ethos of natural, easy cultivation.

Known as Malus ‘GreenCats,’ these apples thrive in full sun with moist, well-drained garden soil. Their versatility makes them perfect for container gardening, as a standout piece, or in your backyard orchard.

Grow your Tangy Green™ Fruit Snacks™ Columnar Apple for hassle-free, homegrown fruit in any space – a top choice for those craving easy, delicious harvests.

Can you plant a tree like this near buried utilities like a propane tank or peat pod septic system?
Can I pollinate tangy green with Arkansas black?

Yes, Arkansas Black can pollinate Tangy Green™ apple, assuming a few key factors line up:

1. Bloom Time Compatibility
For successful pollination, both varieties need to bloom at the same time or have at least some overlap.

Arkansas Black tends to bloom in mid- to late-season.

Tangy Green™ (a Stark Bro’s exclusive) also typically blooms in mid-season, so there’s a good chance they overlap.

I have one of the tangy green and she's doing well with loads of early blooms this year.  Problem is most of the others I have won't bloom for another couple of weeks.  Can I get another of this variety and they will pollinate each other, or is there another columnar variety that will match this one well for pollination timing?

The same variety cannot pollinate itself. You will need another apple variety with a similar bloom time in order for good pollination to occur.

Are theee gmo ?

Stark Bro’s does not knowingly grow or offer genetically engineered plants or trees. We either graft our trees or grow them from cuttings.

Will this tree cross pollinate with honey crisp apple tree ?

So it gets tricky with the overlaping of bloom time, the reason some varieties have an early - mid is because they hold on to their blooms longer that those that are strictly early, mid or late bloom time. There is never a guarantee that this will be year after year it is possible that they will work by expanding to be overlapping if needed but as a general rule you should stick with variaties that bloom at the same time.

Can you grow these solely in pots?

Really tall!!
Tree arrived at 3.5 feet tall!! Much taller than I expected! 1 inch thick towards the graft and a bud is bright green and I can see the leaves peaking out from it already, right out of the box. So excited to have gotten this tree before it sold out! Can't wait to see how it grows.
