An improved Empire. This apple has the sweetness of a Delicious and the flavor of a McIntosh. An improved Empire because it colors to a deeper red than Empire. White-fleshed. Some resistance to mildew, fire blight and rust. Ripens in mid-September. Best organic pollinators: Liberty or Whitney Crabapple. Best non-organic pollinators: Stark® GrandGala™ or Starkrimson® Red Delicious. A licensed variety of Cornell University.

needed pollinator for Honeycrisp and I like this sounded like a crisp sweet variety as well.. to feed my 'empire' heehee. plus... a lot of the others are sold out in dwarf for now. no biggy. as long as it performs I will love it ??? and by performs.. I mean 'lives' ha.

I ordered this tree because it was organically grown and because Empire apples are a variety with which I am familiar - very similar to a MacIntosh.

How big are the dwarf trees that are shipped?

BEST ANSWER: When shipped, regular trees are about 3-4' tall and/or with a 3/8" or larger trunk diameter. A Stark?? Supreme Tree is one of the season's top-grade, bare-root trees that gives you a head start on growing. When Supreme trees are shipped, they are about 4-5' tall and/or with a 5/8" or larger trunk diameter.
The recommended pollinators are for the royal empire apple are out of stock. Are there any others I can use?

Will a Royal Empire dwarf apple be a good pollinator for my 10 year old Dwarf Gala and dwarf Braeburn trees? If not, what dwarf apple would you suggest?
