Joey Avocado Tree
Description
A heavy producer of delicious, buttery avocados!
Joey Avocado was Founded by Joey Ricers in Uvalde, Texas. It has excellent flavor, and the skin is purple-black in color when ripe. The medium, egg-shaped fruit has many uses. Add avocados to salads, smoothies, and other dishes for a boost in vitamins and protein.
Avocado trees are dense, evergreen trees that grow fast in tropical climates. The beautiful deep green foliage and upright growth habit make the Joey a customer favorite!
These trees are remarkable in their ability to thrive under a broad range of environmental conditions. Avocado trees prefer mild temperatures, good draining soil, humidity, and 6 hours of sun. Joey is becoming more popular for being cold-tolerant, surviving temperatures in the teens and 20s.
When planted in the ground, the Joey Avocado Tree can reach a mature size of about 25 feet tall and can be kept even smaller by pruning. When growing in a container, make sure the soil completely dries out before watering again deeply. These trees have shallow roots, so be sure to choose a container that is just as wide as it is tall. Good drainage is key.
Avocado trees are self-pollinating and you’ll get a nice harvest with just one tree. They don’t require another variety in order to produce fruit. However, having a Type A and Type B avocado tree increases the chance of successful pollination and fruit set. Joey is a type B, with avocados ripening from August to October.
