14 Questions
Why did you choose this?

Had one in my yard for 20 years. Great shade, polinator, and produced a fine crop every year.

your description said it would do well in my region

Its different and will polinate with another tree we planted last year.

Hardy, looks like it will do well in my zone 3-4

If this is cold hardy to -30 why would it not be OK for zone 4b?

While the tree may survive extreme temperatures on occasion, the overall climate of colder zones is not ideal in the long term, for fruit production. For your growing success, is best to choose varieties that are optimally suited to your zone.

Will the Stark Gold Sweet Cherry with cross-pollinate with Rainier Sweet Cherry?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. It is possible that they will overlap in bloom time. The Rainier is a mid season bloomer and the Stark Gold is a late.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

Which cherry variety makes the best cherry brandy ?

sweet dark especially, but any sweet cherry. Sugar content is imperative

How tall the gold sweet cherry tree grow in length?

We no longer offer this variety so unfortunatley if it is one you have had in the past then it would depend on what mature size you bought. Dwarfs mature 8-12 feet, semi dwarf matures 12-18 feet and standard matures 18-25 feet.

Will this Cherry pollinate with the 5-in-1 Cherry?

I would not recommend these varieties as partners for cross pollination.

Will there be any available to order for this spring?

Hi Scott, at this time we are completely out of stock this spring but be sure to sign up for a notification just in case more become available.

I have several Black Walnut trees on my property.  Are cherry trees tolerant of the juglone produced by the black walnut?  I am considering the Stella, Tatarian, Stark Gold and Hardy Giant cultivars.

Peaches, nectarines, plums and cherries, which are all members of the Prunus genus, can safely grow near black walnut trees.

Have 5 type grafted cherry tree that has large and medium cherries but one section has tiny yellow red cherries more pit than fruit what type cherry is this?

I do not have that information at this time. Please reach out to Info@starkbros.com with pictures and a description of your problem so we can assist you further.

I have Stella, Black Tartartian, and Bing Cherry Trees, would these be good pollinators for the Stark Gold Sweet Cherry?

Thank you for your question. Common rule of cherry tree pollination is any sweet cherry will pollinate another sweet cherry. Except when it comes to the Bing, there are three varieties that will not cross-pollinate with it and it is the Emperor Francis, Lambert, or Napoleon/Royal Ann. Other than those you will be fine to choose nay other sweet variety for pollination.

What zone this tree is good for? Can I grow it in Zone 9? I am in , Texas , South part so I am in 9A zone

It is compatible for zones 5-7.

Love this cherry!
My neighbors had to get rid of their cherries because the birds always got them before they could be picked. I have never had this problem! After I finish my picking I leave those higher up that I can not reach for the birds so we are both happy! Generally I have about a week to do my picking before the birds finally figure out that they are ripe!

very hearty
We haven't had it long enough to fruit yet but it came through a rough winter and came on strong this spring and is thriving in what has been a hot, wet, windy summer.

Doing well after one year.
My Stark Gold arrived quickly and immediately took off. Now in its second year its six ft tall and the trunk is 2.5" thick. I'm excited to see how it does in the future.

Healthy tree and growing strong.
Bought this same tree from Starks thirty years ago. Love it. The birds don't bother it like the red cherries. It is getting old, so wanted a new one to replace it. The new one planted last year is growing and looking wonderful. Got a few blooms this year.

Stark Gold
I live in Zone 4b, and since it is supposed to be hardy to -30 took a chance on this tree. This will be my third season, and I am going to have a few cherries this year. Planted with a Kristen at the same time, and that tree will produce a handful of cherries this year too!

The deer love the cherry tree branches, so I need to spray with a deterrent till they get too big for the deer to bother.

I had planted this tree at my previous house, and loved them.

Great form, fast maturing, no bird problems.
My Stark Gold Sweet Cherry tree is about 3 years old since planting. After the first year it produced a few cherries; enough to get a taste. The second year it made a few handfuls. I'm looking forward to this year as it has really grown and matured. Should be at least a basket full. I have not had any problems with this tree variety such as rotting branches like I have had with some other types. The cherry is fully gold, no striping or red color, and the birds didn't bite any of them, though I did get a few fly holes in them. I don't spray at all to prevent bug bites though.
