Questions & Answers
I think the picture is misleading - they ripen on the tree - and are delicious.
Italian or Stanley prune plums are compatible with Green Gage plum. As long as you select one of the European varieties, you can expect good cross-pollination. Japanese plums do not cross-pollinate with European plums.
No, European plum varieties like Green Gage and Japanese plum varieties like Santa Rosa do not cross-pollinate
So it is self pollinating and does not require another variety to bear fruit. A Stanley would be a good choice but any other European plum will work.
We use several different rootstocks, depending upon the desired result and what is available. For that reason, we're unable to guarantee a specific rootstock.
In plum trees, the blooms tend to come on first, followed by the first new leaves. The blossoms and first leaves exist simultaneously for a short time before the blossoms fade and the tree fully leafs out.
Hi, This is the first time I have planted this variety. Ate them as a child from neighbors tree. Yummy. That is why I planted it. Just got it this week.Wish I had a better answer. Good luck
NO as it is self pollinating and only needs its self to produce the fruit.
I want to buy this tree and the Shiro one, can I buy both now and just wait till spring for this one?
Yes you can purchase and plant these trees and then plant others at a later time when available.
That will depend upon which option you choose. Please see the "Choose an option" dropdown menu near the top of the page, which will show you the various sizes/options that are available.
