Description

Showy all year long. Visual highlights include orange-red blossoms in late spring and golden-yellow foliage in fall. Vibrant flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Glossy green leaves are long and slender. Large red fruit has compartments full of soft seeds. Sweet and tangy flesh is ideal for juicing, but can also be eaten fresh. A natural source of Vitamin C, antioxidants, and fiber. If winter causes dieback, new growth from the roots remains true to variety. Needs winter protection in zone 7 and lower. Grows well in containers! Introduced to California in 1896. Ripens in September. Self-pollinating.

Survival Guaranteed!

Since 1816, Stark Bro’s has promised to provide customers with the very best fruit trees and plants. It’s just that simple. However, because annual plants are naturally short-lived and complete their life cycle in a single growing season, our standard one-year survival guarantee does not apply to annuals. If your annuals arrive damaged or fail to thrive within the first 14 days after delivery, please contact us immediately so we can make it right. For all other plants, our full one-year warranty still applies. Read more about our warranty policy.

My Hardiness Zone ?
The USDA hardiness zones offer a guide to varieties that will grow well in certain climates. Each zone corresponds to the minimum winter temperatures experienced in a given area. Make sure that your hardiness zone lies within the zone compatibility range of this variety before ordering.
This item can be grown in colder climates if it's planted in a container and brought indoors during the winter months. If you're planting it outdoors in the ground, we recommend being within the outdoor zone range.

Pollination

This variety is self pollinating.

In many cases, you may still want to plant pollinating partners to increase the size of your crops, but with self-pollinating varieties doing so is optional. You'll get fruit with only one plant!

Pomegranate
If they live the first year, you will be fine. KEEP THEM WATERED that first year. Protect from severe frost. Mine died off in the winter.

Pomegranate trees
These trees are doing well, in spite of very hot temperatures and little to no rain. So excited for them to produce fruit.

A Warm Climate Staple
I purchased this tree a few years ago and planted it in my berry patch, where it gets full morning sun and afternoon shade from spring to fall. This tree is drought and heat tolerant, low maintenance, grows tall and flowers profusely, setting fruit in the spring. That being said, the fruits aren't often ripe enough to eat until around the end of October/beginning of November, so be mindful of that window if you're planting this in zone 9B. Also, when watering, make sure that the watering zone is deep and wide. Mine nearly fell over because the roots were too shallow and had to be staked to keep it upright.

Underated Indoor Plant
As someone who loves pomegranates I was so excited to see that I could grow my own in Mid-Mo. I received this plant during its dormancy and while it's now out, its had tremendous growth and has been very easy to take care of. I've had great experience growing this indoors for a beginner!
