Just to clarify. Each plant is 1-2 feet tall?
Elizabeth B on May 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. These are bare-root plants that are two years old, and each of the 10 bare-root plants is 1-2' tall.
How big is the original plant that is shipped?
Becky T on Mar 24, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I purchased one package of 10 -- there are 10 small sticks :) in the package, I planted all according to instructions and, 2 years later, all are doing great. They are now 3-4 feet tall and leafing out right now (March).
Is each of the 10 in the bundle its own bush?
Chaly J on May 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes! They're only about 2-3ft tall including the roots, but each one is its own separate plant. I planted mine about 6 feet apart all around the yard to form a hedge.
Are these evergreen?
Erin D on Apr 4, 2020

Are the fragant lilacs a good container plant?
DruidJo on Jun 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They can be. I didn???t have time to plant them all when they arrived
so put some of them in 5 gallon planter bags. Then conveniently forgot about them.
They survived the winter nicely and are growing this year. Lilacs tend to be slow growing in my area so I believe they will survive the ???bags??? another year but the root ball will eventually need more than a 5-gallon bag.
What does "pkg of 10" mean? 10 shrubs all together?
Lynn S on Feb 1, 2020
BEST ANSWER: They come as rooted cuttings, so they are going to look like twigs with a few roots attached. You get 10 of them, and they are bundled together with a rubber band and placed in the same packaging to keep them moist. When you get them, you take off the rubber band and separate them, then plant them individually in their desired location. They are small, but I didn't have any trouble getting them to grow under normal care, as lilacs are pretty hardy.
My soil is a clay - mix with underlying sandy gravel that drains well. Should I amend the soil with peat moss and horse manure before I plant lilacs ?
Marty on Apr 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for contacting us. Yes, we recommend that you amend your soil down with manure or peat most to create air pockets in the soil for the water to drain. You will need to amend past the recommended planting size hole.
Will this lilac grow in the MS red clay dirt?
Kmc2007 on May 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Maybe not 100% red clay dirt, but amend it a little with compost at the time of planting should help it get it started. I'm in PA and I planted mine in a mostly clay soil, but I made the hole extra big and the dirt I removed I mixed with vermiculite & compost, then added a slow release organic fertilizer. I planted them last year, when they arrived bare root in early spring. This year, a couple now have bloomed and they seemed to have doubled in size since planting. I hope this helps.
does the 10 pack mean we have 10 separate lilacs? or will I only get one and have to plant all 10???
Enrique R on Feb 5, 2021

Robert on Jan 11, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We appreciate you reaching out to us. The Fragrant Purple Lilac is genetically modified. These plants are propagated by a rooted cutting.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

Lee C on Apr 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If you are skilled at pruning, any woody plant can be made into a "tree."
How many plants come in the bundle? And is each plant one lilac bush?
Chaly J on May 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: One order includes 10 bare-root plants, which will each grow into a separate lilac bush.

Sally J on May 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Lilacs are neither poisonous to humans nor animals.

Great Stark's bargain lilacs
At just under $23 for a bundle of 10 lilacs, I was expecting twigs, but the bare root plants I got were all over 30 inches tall. A couple of them even put forth blossoms last summer, their first summer in the ground. We are having an early spring here, and the leaves are already in bud. I'm looking forward to watching these grow into a nice hedge with a heavenly scent when they are in bloom.

Vigorous plant!
I ordered the value pack of these lilacs, not sure what to expect. The plants that arrived were healthy and larger than expected, every bit as good as the local nursery for a fraction of the price. They have only been in the ground for about ten days but some have already begun to leaf out and all have taken to transplanting very well! I was very pleasantly surprised by what I received and will definitely be ordering from Stark Bros. again!

Love them!
I planted my lilacs last spring and they've grown so fast in just a yr. I've kept mulch around them constantly. Very impressed with the quality and quantity for the price. I bought 10 more this year. I now have 20 lilacs in my yard and I can't wait till they're in full bloom. Thanks so much Starks Bro.
