Can this rose be trimmed to stay around 3' high and wide without hurting it?
Renee O on Feb 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You can prune it to just about any size you want, but we would not suggest keeping it any smaller than 2'.
Do any of the knockout roses have a strong rose scent?
Mark S on Mar 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The double Knock Outs are fragrant, but the most pronounced fragrance is from the Sunny Yellow Knock Out.
Can they be planted in a container?
Alice P on May 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they can. The root restriction that is created by container growing may reduce the mature size somewhat, but Knock Out roses are generally good candidates for container-growing.
Will they survive in freezing temperatures?
John M on May 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, very hearty rose and survived many 3 foot snow storms
How long do they live ?
Bill G on Oct 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have only had knockout roses for 2 years but if you manage them for disease and winter care they would probably last a life time. Rust is a problem in my area as well as Japanese Beatles. For mine I have to trim them back 2 to 3 times per year and I fertilizer 2 to 3 times per year. These cuttings will not be like what you get at your big box store but are much cheaper and will make up the size difference in the first year of growth. These are a great buy. My wife’s favorite are the coral. I have Coral, red and pink from Stark.
How big do these roses get?
Ruth M on Sep 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The bushes get 4-5' tall and wide and the blooms themselves are 2-3" across, depending upon how well you feed them.
Would this be a good plant to use as a border or fence? Planting multiple bushes to create a fence line?
Karen Z on May 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Height of these will be around 3 ft. These plants are deciduous so they will loose their leaves in the winter time at least in our part of the country. They will require some maintenance so I would not think it was the best plant for a border. You might want to use it as a highlight or focal point in your border. These plants are surprisingly viral. That is they start small but grow fast.
Will they bloom their first year?
Anna M on Apr 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It will largely depend upon the weather conditions, the soil in which you plant it and fertilize it, but if you start it off right, you may have a few blooms this year. It will grow substantially between this year and next spring.

Pretty, but did not survive the winter
I really like the way the blooms opened as a bright coral and matured to a pale pink. Unfortunately the plant did not survive the winter. Would have rated it 5 stars if I could see it blooming now.

Great Rose Bush for Brooklyn, NY
My daughters small garden area was always run over by weeds and busy household to bother with weeding. I decided last year to redo it for them and plant knock out roses as they seem to survive anything in my dry climate in Texas. Chose the ones for NY, bought 6. They came small but with good planting instructions and I bought the rose food. One year later, cold miserable winter, and they are thriving! Prices in our area for knock our roses was high and I bought these on sale from Starks. It was a great buy, knowing that they would stand behind the roses.
