First, Stark Brother products and customer service are superior to your competitors. Second, the triple play pecan offering, while not exactly the varieties I wanted, are an excellent cost effective option for me. Third, I know these pecans will do well and will provide not only decoration and shade, but also they will provide edible mast for my family or profit.

What size (how tall) are the trees that are shipped?
leah m on Sep 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Anywhere from 1' to 4' depending upon the size option you choose.
2 questions: 1. I have heard that some pecan trees will grow, but if the temperature zone is too close to the limits (I am in 6B) , that the pecan trees will grow but won???t produce nuts. 2. With the pecan trees, do both (???male??? ???female???) produce nuts? If not, how do I tell if I have all females or all males?
Keith B on Feb 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: My understanding is that pecan trees are not sexed; they all produce nuts. But you have to make sure you have varieties that will cross-pollinate each other. They are not self-fertile, and some varieties produce pollen before their flowers will accept pollen, while others produce pollen only after their flowers end receptivity (called "pistillation"). Due to the timing, not all varieties are mutually compatible.

I don't know about the zone question, my trees are not old enough to nut yet anyway.
Why are the trees grafted and what are the components of the graft?
Derrick P on Jul 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This tree is grafted. If you want more information about grafted trees please read our article, The Science of Grafted Fruit Trees: http://www.starkbros.com/growing-guide/article/science-of-grafting. We are unable to guarantee a specific rootstock in our retail department. However, our Customer Support Team might be able to help you determine the probable rootstock or rootstocks used on this year???s crop. Please contact our Customer Support Team at 800.325.4180.

Stark Pecan Trees
We bought the Stark three pecan tree collection, which was delivered last fall and immediately planted. Two of the trees budded and leafed out this spring and one was dead. I called Stark and they are replacing the tree. My family has dealt with Stark for years and they are a pleasure to do business with. TWAdams

So far, So Good
Planted this trio last year, experienced a bad drought, tried watering but could have done better. All three budded heavy this spring, two are leafed out real strong, one I think we lost, definitely my fault, need to see if I can get another ordered from Stark real quick, if it's not too late for this year. We are kind of at the northern edge of pecan range, but do have some older trees that were just seedlings, no variety that produce pretty well, just make small nuts, so we are crossing our fingers for these grafted trees!

So far so good for our pecan trees
We have four yearling pecan trees started. With weekly watering, all came through a six-month autumn drought (and also some unusually inconsistent winter weather) alive and well. This includes both the Desirable Pecan and the collection.

A start of a pecan orchard
I planted my pecan trees in my front yard with other pecan trees I had planted previously. I hope I live long enough to see them bear nuts.

Wow, watch 'em grow
I thought these were going to be more trouble, but they have been growing very nicely. They each got a wire basket to keep the deer away and some straw mulch to keep the moisture in. So far, so good

Planted in 2015
These are still doing well in zone 7a but we are at 1700 ft on the Cumberland plateau so winter is colder. We mulch them every year and fence them from deer. They all have grown wonderfully. Looking forward to those nuts. I have since added Desirable and Pawnee from Stark and they are all doing well. Stark Bros. Is so easy to work with and the stock is very good quality.
