looks like a good tool to pit sour cherries for pies
Julie S on Aug 3, 2019
We already have one cherry tree and is too much to pit the cherries one at a time.

We have montmorency and North Star cherry trees which produce small cherries. Will this work for smaller cherries?
Carol T on May 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We have the deluxe and have used it on several different sizes of cherries . It work well on them all. Just don't get in a hurry.
will that cherry pitter work on olives?
clay c on Mar 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your inquiry. Because olives are typically smaller than cherries, the pitter most likely won't work on olives.
will this handle the big black cherries. we bought one this year, not this one and it seems to not get every seed out. the big cherries seem to get stuck. we also used it on the yellow cherries and it also missed a lot of seeds. is there a trick to getting all the seeds out.?
MARTHA P on Jul 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought this a couple of years ago and have used it on store bought red cherries a lot. I have only good things to say about it. I have not had it miss seeds. The cherry does get stuck on the end of the rod but all you have to do it is push the handle up and down a few times so that the cherry hits against the top and off it will pop. I like this device a lot, seems well made and can process cherries quickly.
how do I disassemble the pitter clean it?
Carrie on Jul 3, 2020
This is how I disassemble it , I unscrew the black knob that???s attached to the long metal rod that Pitts the cherry . Pull out the plastic basket that catches the seeds/pits . Wash the plastic with soap and water .
That???s about all there is to it . Hope this helps . Love my pitter.

Are the metal parts stainless or chrome, please?
MARLIL L on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The metal parts in this pitter such as the spring, which do not come into contact with the food, are nickel-plated steel.

Pitter Patter
While this Deluxe Cherry Pitter is a great time and effort saving tool,It is quite flimsy. It could be made sturdier with one simple design change ...Slot the pit catcher into the base as well as the tray, making it part of the over all support. This would stop the bending and twisting of the support arm, and make a more solid and lasting tool.

great product
Last year I bought this Cherry pitter. It works great. It will miss a few pits if you are processing large amounts and get a bit careless, but if you pay attention, your cherries will be perfect.

Great Pitter
Love this pitter.....once I got the hang of it ! A) Use left hand fingers to shuffle/ feed the next cherry as a cherry bumping up to the pitted cherry may offer just enough resistance so the rod pulls out of the pitted cherry instead of lifting it up against the roof and completing the extraction/ ejection process. B) The pitting stroke is done in two movements, lightly pressing the rod to contact and penetrate the skin up to the pit, then a quick push and release to accomplish the ejection of the pitted fruit out and into the bowl. As long as the cherry, big or small, centers itself under the rod, it will be a clean pitting. I can now pit 30-35 cherries without a "miss fire"

Handy gadget
Amazing! This is a very handy gadget. I love it. I pitted enough cherries to make a cobbler in just a few minutes. My family loved the cherry cobbler. And they thought I had worked for hours!! Ha, Ha.

I tried the Deluxe Cherry Pitter on a few cherries from the market and it worked fine. I'm hoping it works well on cherries from my dwarf trees. Those cherries are much smaller. Won't know until next summer!

Much better than removing pits by hand but occasionally it will miss 1-3 pits per quart.
