Is the best time to spray right when fruit is set shortly after bloom time?

The best time to spray Monterey Fruit Tree Spray Plus (which is an organic, neem oil-based product) depends on what you’re targeting. Here’s a quick breakdown:

For Preventative Care (Pests & Disease):
Dormant Season (Late Winter/Early Spring): Before bud break to smother overwintering pests and fungal spores.
Pre-Bloom: Just before flowers open, to help prevent fungal issues like scab or powdery mildew.
Petal Fall (Right After Bloom): This is a key time, especially when the tiny fruitlets first start forming—this is often when pests like codling moths, aphids, and fungal infections start becoming active.
After Fruit Set (Post-Bloom):
Yes, it’s a good time to spray—but ideally, you would:
Spray at petal fall and continue spraying every 7-14 days as needed, depending on pest/disease pressure and weather.
Avoid spraying during bloom to protect pollinators.
Early fruit development stage is when insects like plum curculio, codling moth, or fungal issues can get started, so early sprays can prevent bigger problems later.
Key Tips:
Best applied in early morning or late evening to avoid leaf burn and protect pollinators.
Don’t spray during high heat or full sun (temps over 85°F can cause leaf burn with neem oil).

The only fruit spray you need!
I absolutely love this Fruit tree spray. It stops disease and bugs. I spray every other week and have beautiful fruit to harvest! I use it on my apple, pear, peach, and plum trees. Just remember to clean your sprayer thoroughly after every spray.

I used the spray last year to combat a fungus type growth that ruined the majority of my sour cherries. This year the trees are loaded with blossoms and so far I see no sign of the fungus.

Good results, no spray attachment
I have only used this product a couple times and so my review is based on limited experience. However, the spray appears to work very quickly and was effective in killing aphids, ants, and other beetle pests that were making a meal of the new fruit tree leaves. The insects appeared again within a few days and so frequent application appears to be required (within the timespan recommended by the manufacturer of course). I used this spray on varieties of peach, pear, cherry, and Nectarine trees, all planted from bare root this season, and did not identify any harmful effects to the trees. My only negative is that the spray does not come with the nozzle attachment as shown in the image. It could be that the detailed description on the website states this and that I missed it, but my expectation was that I was buying what was shown online.

Monterey Fruit Tree Spray Plus Review
This is the first time I've used this product, but it is organic and thus more desirable than other chemical based products. So far it seems to be doing the job.
