Questions & Answers
I applied this product only at the beginning of the spring . . .
I would look at weather forecast for next 2 weeks. If the low is 30 or above, I think it’s okay to put in fertilizer. If you want to play it safe, wait and see at beginning of April and check the weather forecast again and see if the temp has any days below 30 degrees as the low. If there are no such days, then it’s “go” time.
We put a fluffy, non-compacted, 4-6" layer of straw (not hay!) across the raspberry bed. A few weeds came up but they had no solid ground to root into so they were simple to pull when they emerged.
Raspberries often benefit from heavy cultivation and pruning. Starks raspberry food has been doing very well for me. I also add a little compost each season.
If you don't want anymore plants, that's fine. Raspberry plants are known for coming up from the roots, or "sucker plants." This obviously creates more plants.
I don't fertilize if we are having hot dry weather. I like the ground to already be moist through rain or watering. Mix the dry raspberry fertilizer with water according to instructions on package. After fertilizing, if it hasn't rained for 2 or 3 days you can water your raspberry plants. I use the raspberry fertilizer about 3 times in the Spring to early Summer. Very healthy plants with tons of berries. Have fun.☺
Hi Kimberly - I would assume that this is not safe for animals to drink. The MSDS states that in case of ingestion for humans to rinse mouth and drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting. Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physical if you feel unwell. If your pet has drank the water and seems unwell I would recommend calling your vet for advice.
It's a 20-21-20 fertilizer. Don't have more detail. Increased my yield.
I used this only for my raspberries since I wanted to be able to see how well it actually works. A couple of other reasons I didn’t try it in my fruit trees are:
1.). I purchased my fruit trees when they were young. I planted in areas where a lot was done to augment the soil because the area had been previously occupied by honeysuckle. I want to give my trees (and anything I plant) as best of a start as I can provide to support healthy growth and development.
2.). Since I trusted Stark Bros reputation and purchased trees from them I also extended
trust Stark Bros would sell products formulated for the items advertised.
All of that said (exhale :-) ), you may well be able to use the Stark Bros Raspberry Food for your fruit trees as long as you understand the there is minimal difference in Iron percentages but a greater difference in available phosphates and available potash (ab double the difference in this raspberry food - higher).
All of that said (exhale), you may very well be able to use the Stark Raspberry Food for your fruit trees. There is minimal difference in nitrogen provided between the raspberry food and food I’ve used for fruit trees. Ther
My understanding is that fertilizer is a general application. The Stark's raspberry food, is designed specifically for raspberries; mainly N P K. Hope this helps
Customer Reviews
I love them & they are my babies, so I want to take care of them as well as I can. That's why I use this fertilizer. It is absolutely amazing to see how this works on them. Our raspberries bloom twice a year & they thrive immediately after I apply it. Some of the stalks grow as tall as 8 1/2 feet & we get over 5,000 berries a year!!!
Don't hesitate to try this!!
