Will strawberry kit help my two year old strawberry plants?
Melissa A on Jul 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Melissa,
Yes this kit for the most part will help you. The food comes with mixing directions for new and established plants (note: for established plants feeding is recommend in the fall only). The netting will help keep the birds away. The one item that may not help is the red mulch film, since the plants are already in the ground it might be difficult to cut the mulch around the plants. You may be able to cut strips and lay them in a pattern that prevents the weeds. The one thing I don't like about the mulch film (or any fabric etc.) is that when the plant sends out runners there is has no way for them to root and create more plants. I like to keep the ground bare or use a light wood/straw mulch.

I hope this helps, and enjoy your strawberries.

What to do with strawberry runners?
Edwin S. on Jul 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If you want to increase the number of plants, just let them start roots then once roots are established cut the runner from the main plant.
I have planted strawberries--should I use this mulch and fertilizer now or wait until spring?
Charlotte A on Sep 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Definitely use the mulch now to keep weed seeds from taking hold, but wait on the fertilizer until spring, when you first start to see new growth.
does this come with a frame to put over the strawberries?
Stephen B on Nov 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! Sorry, no it doesn't.

The roots came in prior to the pyramid that I ordered. I followed the directions and the plants have taken off since I planted.

I like the kit but....
The strawberries did well last season and are starting this season. The red plastic mulch does a good job but the plastic is too think. Grass grew underneath the plastic. Also now the plastic is starting to tear. Its just not heavy enough. Expect that it will only last about a season.
