Description

Another Luther Burbank winner! Snow-white berries are translucent, milky-white in color but have all the flavor of a “normal” blackberry. The drupelets look like tiny pearls and are simply beautiful little fruits. Berries stay whiter than other similar varieties as berries ripen, and with much better flavor. A vigorous, trailing-type grower with good disease-resistance. Ripens in late July. Originated in 1916 by Luther Burbank as an improved form of his original white blackberry, ‘Iceberg’. Self-pollinating.

I live in Zone 10a but I’ve always wanted to grow this plant; is there anything I could do to grow it here?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. The issue will be the amount of chill hours it requires to bear fruit. Most blackberries need relatively few winter chilling hours; they will fruit well where temperatures are below 45°F for 300 or more hours per year. You can attempt to grow these but we can not guarantee them to fruit if you do not meet chill hour requirements.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

Excellent variety
The growth on these was insane. They didn't do too much the first year, but the second year they sprung up to almost 8 feet tall and were loaded with berries. Very similar to the typical blackberry flavor but a little lighter and sweeter. Highly recommend.

Easy to grow
I planted these away from my thornless blackberries so they wouldn't cross. I received these 2 years ago and they are already half my size and loaded with blooms!

Wow!
I planted in 2021. Didn't get any fruit last year. They were just growing. This year I have tons of flowers on the plants. They are right next to the dark blackberries that I got from Stark for free. Because they accidentally sent them instead of my blueberry plant.

They sent my blueberry and said that I could keep the blackberry ones. And boy are the prolific!

Definitely becomes a snowbank
I live in Maryland, just north of DC. I planted these in spring 2020 and it is really taking off. In 2021, it was just green and claiming territory (I am getting the impression it may turn out to be a bit invasive). This year I could tell why it is called snowbank! In the second year, the six plants I started with turned a twelve by 6 foot area completely white with flowers. Looking forward to the berries!
