Why did you choose this?

Low growing for a small planting bed - a small city lot - to intermingle with flowering plants. I have 2 already and they are perfect for my space

Because I don't have a lots of space in my garden I can hang it up

For fun!

Just looking for another variation of the Blueberry.

Approximately how many pints of blueberries come from one plant?

You can expect to average around five to seven pints of fresh blueberries per plant each summer.

Will this cross pollinate with northcountry and northblue?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. blueberries are self pollinating and do not require another variety to bear fruit. However planting a second variety of any kind will increase your crop yield.

Can you leave the hanging basket out in the winter or shouls it be brought inside for the winter months? I am in Michigan.

Potted plants should always be brought in to an unheated garage or basement for the winter so the roots do not freeze.

Does it have to hang, or can I put this in a regular pot?

I enjoyed mine in the hanging basket the first season then up potted to a larger, taller container the second season. The plant seems happy and is doing great!

5a zone. Can these plants be taken out of the hanging baskets and planted into the ground over the winter. Or would the roots freeze?

you can transplant in to ground with no issues as long as there is at least 6 weeks before a hard freeze.

I’m in zone 5.  If I’m going to bring it the basement for the winter, when should I do it?

In USDA Zone 5, you should bring your plant into the basement before the first hard frost, typically when nighttime temperatures begin dipping consistently below 40°F (4°C). This is usually sometime in October, depending on your local climate and elevation.

what is the cold requirement?

I’m in the midlands of South Carolina zone 8b. Our winters can be very erratic. Temps can be 75 one day then drop to the 30s the next. This past winter we had more than a week of nights in the 20s. I kept my sapphire cascade on my covered (not enclosed) porch covered with a light blanket on these cold nights. It survived and has fruit this year. It grew quite large and is in a big pot which probably helped insulate the roots.

Hi i live in zone 8 will these stay evergreen? And do they come in hanging pots? My front porch gets full sun from lunch to sunset and my hanging ferns can't handle this spot

These will go dormant in the fall/winter and they do arrive in a hanging pot.

How many chill hours does this plant need?

The Bushel and Berry® Sapphire Cascade Blueberry requires approximately 350 to 450 chill hours

My plant arrived today, so I was wondering what I should do in regards to its care right now in early November. Any tips? I'm in zone 8a.

I may not be the best person to ask but I did find out a few things not to do. I am in zone 6B and I was afraid the little guy would freeze so I kept him inside an unheated garage for the winter. It was not the thing to do because he didn’t go dormant like he needed to do and therefore didn’t bloom in the spring. The instructions are vague for a “hanging plant “but for mine I planted it in a big pot and left it outside tucked in a corner where I will mulch it and hope for the best. The soil that it came in dries out quickly so if you want to keep it as a hanging plant I would suggest leaving it outside in a sunny spot protected from the cold with mulch and where it will still get moisture.

Resilient and Beautiful bush
I've become a big fan of Stark, any issue I've ever had has been resolved quickly and I am very happy with this blueberry bush! I put it in a spot that get very intense sun, and at first it struggled, but recovered very nicely and is growing well now! It makes a beautiful edible hanging basket and I would definitely recommend it. I havnt tried the berries yet, but all my other bushel and berry blueberries have been amazing and tasty ! So looking forward to that .

Love these!
I love these! I bought 4 of them 2-3 years ago and overwinter them in a partially heated greenhouse. They get pretty cold but probably don't completely freeze. Last year I got many handfuls of berries from them. Enough for breakfast every few days. If you want a ton of blueberries this is not the way to go but I've enjoyed them. I'm trying to grow blueberry plants in raised beds with our very alkaline soil and so far keep the plants alive but not getting alot of production. This is a way to control that ph better and get at least a few fresh berries. Bonus...the plants are beautiful! Very pretty in the fall too.

So far, so good!
My blueberry plant arrived in excellent condition with only a couple pale, dead leaves, and/or fallen leaves. The pot it came in was nicely wrapped and the packaging was in good condition too. I will provide an update soon on it's condition, but so far, it looks like I'll be able to have some nice berries next summer!

This is a winner!
This plant came as a reasonable size (1 quart maybe? I ordered it last year and don't remember the quoted size). I up-potted to a slightly larger basket, fed it with holly-tone fertilizer and it took off. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how fast this type of basket dries out (coir-lined) and the plant got stressed and dropped most of its leaves but the roots survived and this year it is probably 3x the original size without yet being fertilized. It also has several clusters of berries. This is a 5 star plant and I would happily purchase again (except it is always sold out!).

Super Impressed!
My first time ordering from Stark Bros and definitely not my last! My blueberry plants came in great shape and were very well protected during shipping. Despite being in the '90s, neither plant showed any signs of heat stress and the soil was very moist on arrival. I felt the size of the plants were bigger than I expected and they will definitely be ready to size up pots next Spring.

Great little plant
Some were rather on the skimpy size when they arrive, but I transplanted them into a bigger hanging planter, and they grew and filled in fast. They are so pretty hanging across the porch of my gardening shed.

worth a try! great for small spaces. Layering your garden!
very nice plants. arrived looking great in their own hanging basket and was the largest plant for the money from the bushel and berry brand i received . I left them in that basket for the first season i had them and changed them over to larger 14 inch hanging baskets in the early fall. Now in spring they are loaded with berries and huge plants inside these baskets. it looks amazing. easily 100's of berries on these bushes.
really nice for hanging around the outside of the house and porch and if you have a deer problem and don't want to put up the fencing you can hang these up high. very cool and pretty plant.
