Newhaven Peach Tree
Description
An early-season “sweetie-pie.” Everything you love about Redhaven, but a bit smaller and less tangy than other peach varieties – go for this one if you have a sweet tooth. A sensational-tasting, yellow-fleshed pie and cobbler peach, which comes off the pit easier if sliced rather than halved. Good for freezing and canning, too. Grows well from the Northeast to the deep South, and is more cold-hardy than Redhaven, so there’s less chance of bud-kill. Ripens in late July. Self-pollinating, but yields bigger crops when planted near a different peach variety with a similar bloom time.
