Questions & Answers
No. The scientific name (variety in '') of the Red Pear/Kalle Pear is Pyrus communis 'Red Clapp's Favorite' and Red D'Anjou is the same except for 'Red Anjou'. They are both pears but they are different varieties. Sine they are both red pears the differences between them isn't going to be enough to notice.
Yes, Red Clapp’s Pear is essentially a sport (natural mutation) of the classic Clapp’s Favorite Pear, rather than a hybrid from a deliberate cross. It’s not a hybrid in the modern sense of crossing two distinct species or varieties—it’s a genetic variation of an existing variety.
Hi Declan, This is a very good question. They are from the same parentage but not the same variety. The Starkrimson variety was discovered by what is known as a "bud mutation" from a Red Clapps pear tree in an orchard in MI years ago.

Customer Reviews
bought 8 pear trees
2 of them have sprouted new leaves and branches.
However one tree has stayed the same. No new leaves, no new branches.
I do not know if the season is still okay for fresh tree or replacement.
Red pears look cool
I picked a full sized tree for a front yard canopy layer. Full size works best in my windy area. Red Clapps tastes fantastic, I'm looking forward to growing this.
Have Bartlett tree and love flavor of red pear.
Never heard of one before so - had to try it in my orchard!
