Less invasive and I love the clusters of flowers with fragrance. Fast growing is what I was looking for. This variety does not need a super strong support to keep it up right.

Is it highly fragrant?
R C on May 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They are not as highly fragrant as other types of wisteria. Mine have a light, pleasant scent.
What size and shape container should I use if I want to train this to fill a 10x10 trellis?
Sarah G on May 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This variety is not as vigorous as other wisterias, so it will work in a container. A 20-gallon container will give the roots room to grow, but it is a vine that is about 4' wide and eventually 30' tall , and you will need to almost espalier it in order for it to grow in a square configuration.
Does wisteria frutescens have nectar or pollen for honeybees?
Peggy O on Mar 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes I have seen many honey and bumble bees around my wisteria plants.
How do you grow / maintain Wisteria Falls as a "tree" or standard?
Bucky on Oct 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Tree Wisterias require light but frequent pruning of the long twining branches produced in summer. They also need one hard pruning in late summer or early fall - a few weeks before your first frost date. Cut the current season's growth back to just 5 to 6 large buds (leaving stubs about 6 inches long) and remove poorly placed branches entirely. This will control growth and encourage some of the leaf buds to change into flower buds.
Are these native plants? If not, are they invasive?
Hendrik U on May 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Amethyst Falls is an American wisteria (Wisteria frutescens) ??? it is not known to be invasive, but always check with your local cooperative extension if you're concerned about invasive species specific to your area.

Beautiful springtime vine!
Zone 7 Winter-hardy, this wisteria is native to North America, and thus non-invasive, but provides beautiful springtime purple blossoms. I am thoroughly enjoying this plant.

beautiful blooms
This is the second year that I have had this Wisteria Falls planted, the blooms are beautiful and both plants are doing great. I have them planted on each side of a trellis and can't wait for them to meet in the middle, I know it is going to be breath taking.
