We are building a new home and just started doing some of the landscaping. I was told the Cleveland Pear would be hardier than some of the other trees. So far I have ordered about 12 of these trees from you and they are doing well.

How fast do Cleveland pear trees grow?
Ozark Jim on Mar 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I planted 7 of them 2 years ago. They were 4-5 feet when I planted them and they are all 8-10 feet tall now. It will take a few more years for them to get to their full height. The ones I have that are 10 years old are about 30 feet high.
fire blight is destroying my pear tree. Is it safe to plant this tree ?
Frank S on May 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, ornamental/flowering pear trees can get fireblight as well.
does it fruit? it goes on about flowers but no mention of fruit flavor or anything
Dev B on Jun 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: A Cleveland pear is like a Bradford pear. Quick growing and flower producing. Very pretty but no fruit.
Can a person use the leaves for fertilizer for a garden ?
Junebug on Mar 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sure, I have Oak and Maple trees on less than 2 acres and lots of leaves.
I use a lawn sweeper and collect the leaves and then mulch them with my tractor.
Makes a good ground cover in the winter here in Colorado or turn them under in your soil. Retains the water in the summertime. Good luck and happy gardening.

does it have crab apple shaped fruit?
Janice A on Jul 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Cleaveland and the Bradford pear trees are non fruit bearing
I have clay soil, and the area of planting has sun from dawn until about 2 pm. Will these trees do well in these conditions?
Lance C on Mar 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Just dig your hole a little extra large and put in some organic type material to give the roots a chance to start. You have plenty of sun. The morning sun is the most important.
Is this tree deer resistant?
Annette S on Nov 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought the guards for the bottom of the trees and have no problem. I live in
northern Michigan and have not had any deer eat the trees.
Is fire blight a problem in northern N.Y.?
Kenny M on May 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry, I do not live in N.Y. I live in OK. Contact your County Extension Office.
Are the blossoms fragrant?
Bethany H on May 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Mildly. Not strong as the Bradford Pear.
How long does it take to mature?
Carla M on Apr 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: At three years old, they will be about 10' tall. At ten years old, they should be at about 30' tall. They are fast-growing trees and quite beautiful in the spring.
Will this tree turn out exactly like the picture in the description?
The picture above has a very nice shape but i thought the cleveland was more narrow and conical than that.
Tony B on Mar 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You might be thinking of a Bradford Flowering Pear. Clevelands do tend to have this "plump teardrop" shape, and this is an accurate picture. Whether your tree will look exactly like this isn't really possible to predict, but with proper watering, food and good soil, the tree will grow true to its parent.
I understand this pear tree does not set fruit but can it be used as a pollinating partner for other pears that do set fruit? I have the Hood Pear, Flordahome Pear and Baldwin Pear trees in my property. I would be interested in putting one of these trees in my front yard just for the beauty of the spring time blooms but it would be most helpful if it can also pollinate my other fruit setting pear trees.
Juan C on Feb 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, an ornamental pear will not pollinate a fruiting pear. The trees you already have will adequately pollinate one another if they're within 50' of one another.

Perfect Shade and beautiful!
I have purchased 4 of these trees for our home in South Jordan Utah. We loved them. They grew pretty fast, they were not messy, and they were the perfect size for our small residential lot. We just moved and I am going to buy 4 more for our new home.

I ordered two of these trees. They came very well packaged, and exactly when they said they would arrive. They appeared to be very healthy at delivery. It is still early spring here so am waiting for them to green up for spring.

Saved a ton
The local nursery had these trees for $70 each so I was pretty skeptical when I saw the price here. When I got them they were pretty small but two years later all 7 of them are healthy and over 10 feet tall. I ordered 6 grape vines with these trees and 3 died. I called next year and said some of my plants died, the girl on the phone didn't hassle me one bit. She pulled up my order and asked if it was the trees or the grapes. I said the grapes and she said "ok, they are on their way". No extra cost or hassle. I am extremely satisfied with their service and will order everything else I need from them in the future.

Great tree
We saw these trees when our son moved to Indiana and my wife loved them. When I realized they would grow in our area, I ordered one as an ornamental for the side of our house. So far it has grown well and had blossoms after it's first winter. We're looking forward to it growing and providing beauty for years to come. I would definitely recommend to it to others. I was also impressed at the quality and speed with which it arrived.
