Great reviews for getting my apple and pear trees growing well

for mature fruit trees

Is this the right fertilizer for a mature peach tree? When we planted our Stark Bro peach tree years ago, we had a box of fertilizer we used yearly. Used it all up last year and no longer have the box...

Yes - use in the early spring around bearing trees (not young ones) by spreading around the drip line. See the package instructions for amount which varies with trunk diameter.

How many cups approximately is 1/4 pound of this product?

According to my email from Starkbros customer service.

Thank you for contacting us. 2 cups of fertilizer would equal 1 pound.
We appreciate you reaching out to us! Your planting success is important to us and we value you as a customer. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us, remember that we're here for you. Have a great day!

This will be the second growing season for the orchard-in-a-box order we placed last year. We initially used TrePrep with great results. Should we continue to use that or shift to this now that they are somewhat established? My concern is that this is only nitrogen and I'd prefer to use something that was a multi-purpose product. Will this be enough or should I just stick with TrePrep?

I'd stick with the Tre-Pep for now. It's more well-rounded for young trees. Once the trees all hit their fruit-bearing years (approximately their third year in the ground), they will take more nitrogen from the soil to support their fruit production cycle and then you may want to consider using Orchard Fertilizer to provide nitrogen (as needed).

If I use this product do I have to use calcum or potassium in addition, this will be the second year for my orchard?

I only used the fertilizer, but my main goal was to produce a lot of greenery in my apple trees since they were growing slow.

What fertilizer is best for honey crisp? I've heard it needs calcium?
What is the best fertilizer for planting new fruit trees?

Tre-Pep. 22-24-12. "Wonderful" fertilizer!

How to apply?

I have only applied once since my purchase and had followed instructions by sprinkling on the ground and did so just hours before a gentle rain fell which appeared to dissolve the fertilizer. My trees are 3 years old and still relatively small but they all have bloomed this year and had not before but as I said, they are 3 years old and was hoping they would bloom this year. I will continue to use this product and monitor results but so far so good. Just sprinkled on ground approx. diameter of total tree width (didn't go any further than the branch width), grass is sure growing well around trees!

Will it hurt anything if I apply it a little late? Like right as new growth is starting?

No, it shouldn't hurt anything to apply this fertilizer once new growth has started emerging. Just follow the label and be sure not to make the application after July 1.

Is Orchard fertilizer an organic or non-organic?

It's just nitrogen granules (derived from urea), but it's not composed of organic matter like leaves or grass cuttings.

can you use on peach trees?

Yes, according to Stark Bros. it should be used on trees 3 years or older. Easy to apply and it dissolves with the next rain and penetrates the soil. There are some good videos on the subject on the Stark Bros. website.

Has been very useful with difficult soil situation and our fruit trees and garden too.
A lot of fertilizer as this is a concentrate. Works well and we are happy with it. Bought to help with new and established fruit trees but hubby decided it's got good properties to help with areas of the gardens too. (EPA ruined our soil a few years back and what they brought in to replace our perfectly good and zero findings of any asbestos with their numerous tests still they went ahead and destroyed our world basically. With poor draining and zero fertile soil.) It's an up grade battle to grow anything in the damaged medium. This is a lovely fertilizer and easy to use and goes a long ways. Very pleased with it.

gotta have it!
This stuff is awesome at accelerating tree growth. This is the first year I've used it more than once in a season and seems to be helping get the trees to size faster helping early apple production. I've got 2yr old trees and this year most all of them are producing already. (planted late fall 21 and early 22) Photos are from June 2024 and 1 from Sept 23 showing the Liberty tree at the end of 2nd growing season.

Highly Recommended!
Instead of doing one heavy feeding per the directions, I did several light feedings over the course of May and July. It was easy to tell when it was applied because there was new leaf growth within three days of application and rain. This product, combined with tre-pep (also highly recommended), have caused my trees to grow very significantly. My trees are two years planted, but this was the first year I used supplemental fertilizer and the growth this year compared to last is absolutely crazy.

Great results
Works well. I used it last year. Plan to use it again because Nitrogen is badly lacking in the soil. Time to use them before the bloom.
