These individual-sized apple pies are perfect for serving at a party, or for popping in the freezer and baking them one at a time. This recipe can also be used to make one large apple pie! This from-scratch recipe requires no rolling pin. A simple pat-in crust and crumble topping make it one of the easiest and most delicious apple pie recipes around.

Individual Apple Pie in Jars

Great for freezing!

Supplies:

  • 12 half-pint wide-mouth glass jars or ramekins

For the Pat-In Crust:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons cold milk
  • 1 ½ teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together, and gently press into the bottom of the wide-mouth jars. You can also press the crust onto the sides of the jar – just make sure to double the recipe!

For the Pie Filling:

apples of your choice, cored, peeled, and sliced. We prefer fuji, Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, and mixing and matching whatever we have on hand!

  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon (we always use a little extra)

Peel, core, and slice apples. Mix the rest of the ingredients and pour over cut apples. Place apples in jars on top of the crust you’ve patted in, filling generously, but making sure to leave room for your crumble topping.

For the Topping:

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup cold butter

Mix together flour and sugar. Slice your cold butter, and then cut into the flour and sugar mixture. Sprinkle the topping on top of your pies.

Place in your oven and bake for 30 minutes. For some added golden color on top, broil for a few minutes before removing from the oven. Top with your favorite ice cream and enjoy!

Freezer Instructions:

If freezing put on the jar lids and place the unbaked pies in your freezer for up to 12 months. When ready to bake, remove the jar lids and place frozen pie(s) uncovered in your oven and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

This recipe can also be used for one large traditional pie and can be frozen. Bake your unfrozen pie for 45 minutes, and your frozen pie for 60 minutes at 350 degrees. We love to cook ours in a cast-iron skillet!

Prepare apples in just seconds for cooking, dehydrating, canning, and sauce-making.
