Fantasia Nectarine Tree
Description
A popular, large, yellow freestone that’s firm when ripe, but oh, so juicy. The taste is sweet, but tangy, and very rich. Nectarines are large and brightly colored. There are so many, they require thinning for the best quality crop. Good for fresh eating, canning and pies. Ripens in late August. Self-pollinating.

I live mid Wisconsin and this year survived a couple of weeks that would have been considered zone 3. So will survive comfortly in zone 4. Definitely no need to been taken inside.
Mine did after it's first year of getting established. It really took off in it's 2nd full season.
The fruit is no problem. Everything from a Mama hen with her chicks, to goats to people on our farm eat the nectarines and peaches right off of the tree, I have Great Pyrenees and Rhodesian Ridgebacks and I wouldn't let them eat the pits, There is a toxin in the internal seed that could cause illness or death, if the dog cracked the pit and ate the almond like seed inside. In short cut off the fruit that you would eat and let the dog try it. If you wouldn't eat it, I wouldn't allow my dog to eat it. Best thing is to call your veterinarian and/or poison control and check it out before the dog consumes the fruit. This is any food not in the animals normal diet.
We appreciate you reaching out to us. Because weather and soil conditions vary so much from year to year and even within your zone, it's best to think of your planting time as a range of favorable conditions instead of an exact time.
You can plant new plants and trees:
1) when the ground is not frozen.
2) when daytime temperatures are above freezing (32ºF) and below 90ºF.
3) when extreme weather (blizzard, hail, torrential rain, etc.) is not in the forecast. Be sure to keep plants watered if you're transplanting in warm and/or dry weather.
If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

Yes, absolutely! A self-pollinating tree can often pollinate another tree of the same species, as long as they’re compatible and bloom at the same time.
Fantasia Nectarine is self pollinating & will have a lot of fruit.
