Description

The Babcock Peach tree is a tremendous bearer of sweet, juicy, aromatic, white peaches. Babcock peach trees bloom with an abundance of showy pink blossoms in the spring with medium-sized fruit ripening in early July.

This freestone variety was once the gold standard of white peaches. Low in acid, the fruit is enjoyed fresh, baked in desserts and pies.

Popular in California, the Babcock Peach is an excellent choice for mild climates, with minimal chill requirements. This self-fruitful tree prefers fertile, well-drained soil.

Do you have a non-GMO Babcock dwarf freestone peach tree available?

Stark Bro’s does not knowingly grow or offer genetically engineered plants or trees. We either graft our trees or grow them from cuttings.

Do Babcock Peach Trees Need Trunk Protection From The Sun-White Trunk Paint?

Hello, I am in Northern California near San Francisco. The tree I purchased is growing quite well. Last season I was able to harvest around 20 peaches. The fruits smelled and tasted wonderful. As for the trunk of the tree, I have not applied any protective paints. I have observed no problems so far with sunburn. I hope this helps

How long before it bears fruit?

You can generally expect your tree to start producing fruit within 2 to 4 years after planting, depending on the variety and growing conditions.

What's a good pollinator for babcock?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. Peaches are self pollinating and do not require another variety to bear fruit. However planting a second variety will increase your crop yield. This choice is solely yours based on taste texture and zone.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

I am indulgently choosing the Babcock peach because it is my last name.  However your site does not recommend it for my 6A zone; can you explain why?  Thanks for your time!

As stated in the description it is for mild climates, with minimal chill requirements. SUch as California and Florida. Zone 6 gets to cold for this variety.

Difference between white and yellow peaches ?

They are similar in flavor to yellow peaches, however they are said to be slightly sweeter due to their low acidity. They have a pale pink hue on the outside and a pale yellow flesh. Because white peaches are softer than yellow peaches, they don't hold up as well when baked.

I JUST saw my elbetta peach tree that will be here thursday is not my zone!!

Omg. What to do?

U have a peach for my zone

what about leaf curl?

I'm having the same issue with my trees. Apparently, there may be a couple of,things that could cause the leaves to curl. One may be the fungal infection, which can be treated with copper spray. Another cause might be the rose bushes or Apple trees if they are, close to the peach tree possibly causing to whiten ans,dry up.

what are chill hours?

Requires 250-300 chill hours and is self-fruitful.

Is this a free-stone variety?

Yes - this variety is a freestone peach.

The peach tree went in my yard looking like a little stick…some water and love and it is filled with leaves and buds. A fantastic tree…I'll be buying more from this fabulous nursery! Easy to plant and simple to maintain.

Surprising number of peaches in the second year.
Now the second season for this Babcock peach tree.
The tree came in a box with instructions for planting which we followed.
Within a few days, it began to sprout branches and leaves, growing the first season.
This year, we were surprised to have a crop of peaches. There were so many, I thinned some and found them already edible. We ended up with over 20, as the tree continues to grow.
The peaches are typical Babcock, sweet, and white flesh.

I’m so glad to have found the Stark Bros site in my search for a Babcock Peach for my mixed fruit orchard. Very easy to navigate and extremely informative. Really enjoyed the video clips of your workforce in action. The company’s history and reputation also played a big part in my decision to order from Stark Bros. I did find another source for the tree, at more than twice the price with over a two month wait !
My purchase from Stark Bros arrived in less than a week, expertly packed as promised. The available tutorials on how to plant and care for my purchase was “value added “ and a big help.
The tree is doing great and I can hardly wait for my first bowl of peaches and cream !
Wish I could have ordered a T-Shirt to go with my tree. XL in neon yellow, peach or blue!! I’ll advertise for you !!

Pay attention to the chill hours or no fruit
Beautiful tree with no fruit unless you have a super cold winter. I had a crop of 20 plus fruit after the first year, then nothing, and this year 2 fruit, hence, not enough chill hours. Fruit is tasty but ripens so quickly. Plant is so bushy, you won't even notice you have fruit as the fruit atay green, yellow forever and then suddenly light red and super soft. Every fly and bird tasted these fruit before me.

The tree arrived in good shape earlier this year. It appears to have a fungus or leaf curl and needs attention.

Smaller than expected
Purchased supreme which has a 4-5ft range. We measured it with a tape measure since it seemed so small and it barely squeaked in at 4 ft on the dot and very thin trunk. I was expecting a larger tree not a whip. I won't buy any more trees online without seeing them.

Amateur nursery persons?
Very poor graft of a stick on a crooked trunk. Awesome, just what we not expect. I had to cut one of the 2 main branches. Forked top. Thank you for growing a tree that will split if I don't chop half the tree off.
Will not purchase from Stark Brothers again.
