Everyone including myself has the red Knockout rose which do extremely well here. We have nasty clay soil and very hot summer temperatures but they just bloom on. I wanted to try the yellow and see if they do as well. I sincerely hope it does because I love yellow roses. Time will tell!

I chose Stark Bro's because of the price of the Sunny Knock Out Rose. Even though it will come in a 4" Pot, these roses have a reputation for growing quickly and are very hardy in the South. Thank you, Stark Bro's, for helping us hard-working gals watch our pocketbooks!

I'm looking for a pollinator-friendly, long-blooming, fragrant, disease-resistant, low-maintenance, light-colored rose. This one fits those characteristics, and for a great price. I'll plant them in my vegetable garden for a year or two; when the 4" potted roses get bigger, I'll transplant them to the front of my home. Stark lists this for zones 5-9, but the patent holders list it for zones 4-11. I am in 4B, I'll take my chances for this ideal-sounding rose.

4" pot is def small, will it get knee high by 1 summer?
markymay on Feb 13, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I ordered these and planted them in front of a tree lace. I planted spring and they were more than knee high by the end of that same summer!! They were beautiful and easy. I hope this helps!
can these knock out roses survive with morning sun?
Ramona E on Aug 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes- these roses are very tolerant of different light levels. I have Sunny
Knockout roses growing in a north facing location with some receiving morning sun and others receiving afternoon sun. All of the roses are thriving, but the ones that receive morning sun are larger and have been blooming all summer.
The sunny knock rose , is it a good plant for large pots ?
Frank S on Jul 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is, although they can get pretty large. You'll probably want to prune it back a bit to keep it looking proportional.
What are Fast growing bushes for hot weather?
Ruth T on Jun 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Knock Out roses grow like crazy. If you enter your ZIP code at the following link and we'll be able to display the popular products that are available and rated for your location: //

If you find something you like, let me know the name of it and I can tell you whether it's a fast-grower.
when I plant my Sunny Knock Out rose do I need to add compost or any fertilizer or wait until spring?
Ramona E on Oct 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It's best to the amend the soil in the planting hole when you plant the rose bush, but don't fertilize until spring. That will encourage new growth now that will be damaged by frost/cold.
Do they have much fragrance?
Kathy on Apr 29, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Knock out roses don't have any scent at all. Just pretty to look at.
I had knock out roses that I loved. However, they got rose-rosette disease and so I have not replanted. Do you know if this strain is susceptible to rose-rosette disease?
Bettisu C on May 26, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I have 2 sunny knock out roses, neither of which appear to be experiencing any sort of disease. In fact, a couple of other nearby roses had black spot but these 2 showed no evidence of that either.
Before planting another in their place, I'd just make sure the disease isn't transmitted via the soil.
Are knock out rises deer resistant ?
Diane W on Mar 16, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Roses in general are often nibbled on by deer. But, my Sunny Knock-Out roses are in my back yard, behind a fence. Therefore the deer in my neighborhood leave them alone. I enjoy seeing them bloom all season long.
Do these roses produce rose hips in the fall that you can use for tea and jelly? Thank you
Lori T on Apr 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They do produce some but mine do not produce a lot. perhaps i just pick them off the let the plant not put too much energy into setting them. I have not found the hips on domestic roses to have the flavor of wild roses. I also do not know about the vitamin C content of domestic rose hips. You should venture into the mountains, woods, or along the ditch banks and pick your hips there. Of course one can always go to the natural foods store and buy organic roses hips.
What size do they come in bare root, 1 gallon...etc when shipped?
William on Apr 14, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We appreciate you reaching out to us. Our roses are shipped in 4 inch pots

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!
how often do I feed my Sunny Knock Out Rose?
Ramona E on May 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: That will depend upon what you feed it with: a slow-release fertilizer or a water-soluble fertilizer like Tre-Pep. We always recommend you follow the label directions and don't overfeed your roses, as that can cause too much lush growth that can become subject to fungal diseases. Stop fertilizing in August so the plant has time to "wind down" before fall/winter.
Can I use Neem oil on my Sunny Knock Out Rose? I have noticed insect bite marks on the leaves
Ramona E on May 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You sure can, it works very well on small insects on roses.
Hi everyone. I live in zone 9. are Sunny Knock Out drought and heat tolerant?
Ramona E on Sep 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they are! One of the easiest-care roses there is ... all of the Knock Out roses are.

Sunny Knock Out Roses
I was truly glad we purchased the Sunny Knock Outs.
We had a hill covered in weeds and we use the roses to take the hillside over. The roses have been in for 2 years now. And the hillside looks great.

Sunny Knock Out Rose
One of my yellow knock out roses had died and I needed to replace it. I couldn't find any in town so I took a chance and ordered one from your company. It took forever for me to get it planted and I figured I had lost it for sure. However, this little plant grew and even survived some freezing weather here in Tallahassee and is blooming now! I'm very happy with my purchase!

They are a very pretty rose. They produce a lot of roses. I really like them, were easy to plant and took to planting. I'm by far a green thumb, so well worth the purchase.

Sunny Knock Out Rose
I love the Sunny Knock Out Rose for about the first week it blooms. Then it turns to a light yellow to cream color. I wish they would stay the bright yellow they start out at. That is the only reason I didn't give it a 5.
They are going crazy with blooms this 2nd year.
Yes, I would recommend these.
