I have a lapin cherry tree (now in its 5th year). Unfortunately, I'm getting little yield of cherries. Any suggestions? I line in SE Michigan. Thx

Late frost can zap tender fruit buds, which may be a concern in your area. If not, given the age of your cherry tree, fruit production should increase after it's yielded its first crops. If beneficials and pollen movers (bees) are not visiting your tree when it's in bloom, you can help by manually moving pollen between flowers (using a small paintbrush or cotton swab). If you have room for another variety of sweet cherry tree, cross-pollination between them should also help to boost yields. If birds are eating your fruit before you can harvest, netting is highly recommended.

I live in East Texas. Will this really grow here?....I thought it got too hot here....have you had anyone report yield from my area?

May grow fine if you have enough winter chill hours--400 hours below 45 degrees or so.

I want to order a supreme XL bare root Dwarf lapins cherry tree. I don’t see where I add that information?

This tree requires 400 chill hours, far less than most other sweet cherries.

What rootstock is my just purchased “dwarf” (no semi in front) Lapins cherry tree on?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. We use several different rootstocks, depending upon the desired result and what is available. For that reason, we're unable to guarantee a specific rootstock.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

Yes this is a self pollinating variety.

It's growing very well. At first it put out leaves all over the main trunk. It had no branches, but it was covered in leaves. Now it''s putting out branches. Very good for its first year.

Cherries in Idaho
So far so good. It is making a strong start in a soil I had to amend as it is a heavy clayloam that has a very high pH. I have seen no indication of nutrient problems or suceptibility to insects. Branching is normal and healthy as it had been properly pruned prior to shipment. It is resistant to strong winds despite large leaves that I worried would be damaged. It did arrive a little later than I hoped for but I was ready for its arrival.

If you ever wanted to grow a sweet cherry tree, this is the one to get! Most sweet cherry varieties need a pollinator, but this one does not. I planted my Lapins four years ago, and this year I got about a half dozen cherries to ripen. Not bad considering it usually takes 5 - 7 years to get a crop. The cherries I did taste were awesome! When you taste home grown, tree ripened fruit, you suddenly understand why you did it. These cherries put store bought cherries to shame! They have the same appearance as bing (just like in the photo) but taste so much. I really can't get over how much more flavor my cherries had than the store bought stuff. They do take some maintenance and care if you want the best cherries. I would purchase this tree again in a heartbeat!

Very Nice Lapins Cherry Tree
I ordered a Lapins Cherry tree in the spring. The tree arrived on schedule and was an excellent specimen. It is growing in my orchard. So far it is doing very well. It has leafed out and grown about 12 inches from the pruning cuts I made.
