Description

Saturn Gold® is the yellow-fleshed version of the beloved flat Saturn peach — delivering the same distinctive saucer shape and sweet, mildly acidic, near-perfect flavor balance that makes flat peaches so compelling, with firm yellow flesh and a blended blush instead of the white flesh of the original Saturn. Where Stark® Saturn is mild and creamy, Saturn Gold® brings a slightly richer, more classic peach character to the flat peach experience — still sweet, still beautifully shaped, still stunning on the tree, but with the warm golden color that yellow-flesh peach enthusiasts prefer. Developed at the University of Arkansas, showing good bacterial spot resistance. July ripening. Semi-freestone. Self-pollinating.

May be covered by USPP #33,973 or other patents.

The Flat Peach — Now in Yellow

The saucer-shaped flat peach form is genuinely unlike any standard round peach — disc-shaped with a characteristic center indentation that makes it easy to eat, visually distinctive at harvest, and immediately recognizable in the fruit bowl or on a cheese board. Saturn Gold® brings that distinctive flat form to yellow-flesh peach lovers who want the novelty and eating convenience of the flat peach format with the warm, richer character of yellow flesh rather than white.

Near-Perfect Flavor Balance — Sweet, Mildly Acidic, Firm

The flavor is what makes Saturn varieties so compelling: a near-perfect balance of sweetness and mild acidity that delivers genuine complexity without sharpness. The firm texture makes Saturn Gold® practical across every use — excellent fresh where the firm flesh holds up without bruising, outstanding for canning and freezing where firmer varieties produce superior results, and genuinely enjoyable straight off the tree at July ripeness.

University of Arkansas — Good Bacterial Spot Resistance

Saturn Gold® was developed at the University of Arkansas — one of America’s most productive stone fruit breeding programs — with good resistance to bacterial spot that supports cleaner foliage and more consistently attractive fruit through the growing season with less disease management intervention.
