Primocane Red Raspberry Plant Collection
Description
Enjoy multiple harvests from long-lived plants. Adaptable to most areas of the U.S., primocane raspberry varieties produce fruit on the first-year canes, bearing in the fall until frost. The low-maintenance plants produce exceptional berries. While all raspberries are self-pollinating, the presence of a different variety nearby will give you an abundance of flowers and more berries from each plant. Plus, you’ll get a discounted price when purchasing a collection compared to purchasing the plants individually.
This collection includes 6 bare-root plants – 3 Caroline and 3 Prelude. Here are some details about both:
Caroline Raspberry Plants:
Superior flavor! Vigorous canes produce huge crops of large, firm raspberries. Bears early. Fall-bearing (everbearing) primocane with a summer crop. Floricane berries ripen in July. Primocane berries ripen in September through frost. Self-pollinating.
Prelude Red Raspberry Plants:
The earliest summer harvest, with a bonus harvest in fall. Enjoy easy-to-pick berries fresh from the patch or in desserts and jams. They also freeze well. This sturdy, erect variety is productive and vigorous. Disease-resistant to phytophthora root rot. Cold-hardy. Fall-bearing (everbearing) primocane with a bigger summer crop. Floricane berries ripen in July. Primocane berries ripen in September through frost. Self-pollinating. A licensed variety of Cornell University.
Note: Do not plant Red, Gold or Purple raspberries within 75-100 feet of Black raspberries. Black raspberries may be susceptible to viral diseases carried by aphids from nearby raspberry plants.

Questions & Answers
Hi Sherry,
I don't recall us getting any raspberries the first year. It typically takes longer for the plants to get established and provide fruit. I'd be suspicious if a seller said you'd get much that first year.

Typically we say allow 4-6 weeks for your trees and plants to sprout new growth.
IF your order arrives before you can plant, please see this article for delayed planting instructions.

No, I personally don't find them to be very difficult while picking fruit though. Since the berries are on long, singular canes and not hidden within a bush I find that I don't have to reach through thorns too often. I have a low and high horizontal trellis wire on each side of my plants, it makes it easy to tie them up evenly and give space.
